The Older Americans Act (OAA) is a federal law that is designed to help older people in the United States, including LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV, maintain independence by supporting essential services they need to age where and how they want.
These services include benefits enrollment, home-delivered meals, transportation, caregiver support, social activities, connection with their community, and more.
In many states, the agencies responsible for the Older Americans Act have yet to fulfill the requirement that their services reach LGBTQ+ people.
To ensure the Older Americans Act is fully LGBTQ+ and HIV-inclusive, we will need your help – from reaching out to your state representatives to sharing information with your family and friends, every action will count.
